Bunker Labs announced Tuesday that it has selected GSVlabs to be their exclusive location partner for Bunker Labs of Silicon Valley. Bunker Labs focuses on fostering opportunities to catalyze the entrepreneurial potential of the military experience to lead innovation in the American economy and to empower veterans as leaders in innovation technology and startups. The executive director of Bunker Labs Silicon Valley will be Derek Distenfield, who previously served in the identical role for Bunker Labs of Jacksonville and will also hold the national title as Director of Growth and Engagement.
“Bunker Labs has a tremendous track record of helping veteran run startups receive access to the tools and resources they need to grow and succeed,” said Marlon Evans GSVlabs’ CEO. “We are expanding to GSVlabs to join the epicenter of technology and innovation, and to continue to create more opportunities to support veteran founded startups in Silicon Valley,” explains Derek Distenfield.
Bunker Labs has partnered with GSVlabs to carry out a broader veteran entrepreneur initiative throughout Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. “We could not be more pleased to be a part of the GSV ecosystem”, explains Derek Distenfield. “We were seeking a partner who we felt was a leader in innovation and has A-quality connections, and GSVlabs topped the list. The partnership will include year round mentorship programing, monthly happy hours and Bunker Labs’ 14 week cohorts. Their vision is that every person who served in the military has the community, the requisite network, and the resources to realize their full entrepreneurial potential.
“We are thrilled to welcome the first Bunker Labs cohort to GSV in the fall,” said Diane Flynn, CMO of GSVlabs. “Through this collaboration, Bunker Labs and GSV are once again at the forefront of innovation development and the continued expansion of a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Silicon Valley. This partnership between Bunker Labs and GSVlabs makes sense on many levels,” said Flynn. “Our ReBoot Accelerator focused on women returning to work is very synergistic with Bunker Labs. ReBoot has special discounts for veterans, and ReBoot is working closely with Bunker Labs’ Headquarters as we expand into the Chicago market.”
Bunker Labs will launch at the GSV Pioneer Summit and is conducting an open house at their GSVlabs location in early October. Their first cohort will launch early 2017.
